Have you ever gotten eye-to-eye with a dolphin? Or met a penguin on a stroll to the South Pole? Or immersed yourself in an Amazon flooded forest? At the Shedd Aquarium, where dolphins soar, penguins parade, and belugas dance, it's all possible. This is a great place for water and fish lovers to visit and enjoy some of the wonderful showcased talents and learned skills of the animals.

Background and Facts

The Shedd Aquarium is located in Chicago, Illinois. It was founded by John G. Shedd and opened May 30, 1930. He was determined to transform Chicago into a world-class metropolis. In the spirit of “build it, and they will come,” he made a $3 million gift to the city of Chicago. The aquarium was for some time the largest indoor aquarium in the world with 5,000,000 gallons of water and containing over 25,000 fish. It has 2 million annual visitors, and it was the most visited aquarium in the US in 2005 and 2007. Without a doubt this is one of the best tourist attractions in the “Windy City”.

Synopsis:

Overall, the Shedd Aquarium is a great place to relax and let your mind venture off onto some of the many wonders of the world. It is supported by a large group of employees who enjoy their work and create a fun environment. Some of the pros of a career at this agency include you getting a chance to leisure everyday! You are there in a social environment, talking to and meeting new people every day. You can enjoy the viewing of not only underwater life, but a total of 1,500 species in all! The only con that I see in a career at this agency is the amount of dedication and hard work that goes into maintaining its reputation. But if you ask me, the pros out weight the cons, which is a good thing. If you enjoying doing a job, you shouldn’t mind the hard work that comes along with it.
